24/11/2005: "Supercross Cancelled"
This just in from the ACU;
Brian Higgins of the ACUs Motocross Committee regrets to inform you that the ACU Datatag British Supercross Championship scheduled to run over the next 3 weeks, 26th November, 3rd December and 10th December has unfortunately been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
The ACU received a copy of a press release at 1400hrs on Tuesday 22nd November 2005 by Gareth Hockey of promoters RHL Activities Ltd.
Brian Higgins said, Obviously, the ACU are very disappointed the Championship has had to be cancelled, at this late stage as many riders, both Youth and Adult, have made special arrangements for travelling to the events. Whilst we have to respect the commercial decision of Promoters who make a huge financial commitment in staging this type of event, the ACU would normally expect to be involved in such an important decision.
Initially, the priority is now being given to ensuring all riders and Teams are informed prior to any making their journey to the 1st Round at the NEC, Birmingham this weekend, 26th November 2005. Once this has been completed, attention will be given to reimbursing monies to all Teams/riders.
